Exterior awareness
Exterior cameras: useful visibility without losing guest trust
How disclosed exterior coverage, responsible placement, local recording, and well-tuned alerts can support property operations.

Start with a legitimate operational purpose
Each camera should protect a defined exterior area such as an entry, driveway, gate, or equipment zone. Avoid broad coverage that does not serve a clear property-safety or documentation purpose.
Disclosure and placement work together
Guest-facing disclosures do not replace thoughtful placement. Cameras should remain in appropriate exterior locations and should not create a reasonable expectation that private guest spaces are being observed.
More alerts are not better alerts
A useful system filters routine movement and emphasizes events that deserve review. Initial tuning matters because alert fatigue teaches owners to ignore the very system intended to help them notice problems earlier.
